The practitioner Kei Shiokawa is specialised in Fascial treatments and has background in Structural Integration.

The name SomatiK is derived from a word ‘somatic’ and is aiming to inspire well-being thorough hands-on bodywork sessions.

As an experienced massage therapist, Kei’s strength is in giving clients a safe space to explore, let-go and relax.

What’s somatics?

Somatic means ‘of or relating to the living body’. Soma means ‘the body as perceived from within’. Somatosensory system is the network of neural structures in the brain and body that produce the perception of touch, as well as temperature, body positions (proprioception/ kinesthetic sense), organ movement, and pain. *Related keyword: Interoception

About Kei

Kei is an intuitive Bodyworker and has been a keen student of the field of health care & somatic education for the last 20 years.

Grew up in Japan, actively engaged in sports as a teenager, was particularly drawn to litretures, arts, philosophy and forms of healing practices around the world led her to further study various healing methods, mind-body connection, mental training for sport, yoga, traditional medicine, mindful eating, and so on.

She tumbled upon an article on Rolfing® Structural Integration in 2000, the beginning of the new millennia which inspired her to go into the very first practitioner training in Japan/Asia. The Journey continued and she traveled to US and Australia to complete the training.
Certified as a Rolfer™ by the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute (former The Rolf Institute of Structural Integration)in 2004. Subsequently completed the certification training in Rolf Movement® Integration in 2005 and have been living and practicing in Melbourne, Australia since 2007.
